3.       Background :

v  The Important of domains and Realizing That That lack of research about this domain in Indonesia, then designed a study to test the ability of children in determining quantities by looking at the arrangements They Made.

4.       Methodology :

This research uses research methods types of development.

v  Research Subjects
Six pre-school children in Honey Bee Pre School Surabaya consists of 3 men and 3 women.

v  Research Procedure
1. Bringing the contextual situation
2. Creativy the structures of candles
3. Finding the easiest structures.

v  Data Collection Methods
1. observation
2. document

5.       Results :

The result shows us that some of the children were able to make such arrangement. However , the children found difficulties either to determine quantities from those arrangements or to compare some structures to easily recognize number of objects.

6.       Discussions or Interpretation of The Result :

This study can shown us that the children can elaborate their ability in determining quantities but each age has own way to achieve it and this study has also taken an important initiative to view the psychological approach of the children to develop mathematical thinking.

7.       Conclussion & Implication :

·         The objects of this study, then, provide some insights into how arranging objects and determining quantities probably have relation with children’s mathematical thinking.

·         This study has taken an important initiative for further research. The view of psychological approach to look  deeper into insight of children in this age will be very interesting to be examined, as well as the difference of children thinking based on the gender.
